Brow Lift
Conveniently located to serve St. Louis
A brow lift, also known as a forehead lift, is a surgical procedure used to give patients a smoother, more youthful-looking forehead and brow appearance, as well as raise the eyebrows for a more “alert” look. Dr. Angela Hulsey brings her incredible cosmetic skills to facial treatments like the brow lift for St. Louis patients.
What Is a Brow Lift Used to Correct?
As we age, our skin begins to lose its tightness and elasticity. This is especially true for the brow and forehead skin, both of which can be improved with a forehead lift. Skin laxity will frequently cause the eyebrows to sink, leading to a perpetually tired, sad, or angry expression when patients look in the mirror.
Additionally, repeated “scrunching” of the upper facial muscles can result in dynamic lines, where the skin above them has lost its ability to bounce back to a smoother texture. Dynamic lines can occur on the forehead (glabellar lines) and between the eyebrows (frown lines or “elevens”).
Who Is a Candidate for a Brow Lift?
A brow lift can be an excellent choice for men and women in their 40s to 60s experiencing moderate to severe forehead lines, wrinkles, and/or lowered eyebrows. If your symptoms are not significant enough to warrant surgery, we also offer minimally invasive injectable therapies like:
What Happens During Brow Lift Surgery
Your brow lift surgery will be performed at Seven Oaks Surgery Center, which is right next door to our practice and features the same high-level medical staff. You will be given either local or general anesthesia for your comfort.
Next, Dr. Hulsey could complete the surgery in one of two ways. For less prominent symptoms, she may make a series of small incisions within the hairline. An endoscope can then be inserted through these incisions to alter the skin and muscle tissue as needed.
Alternatively, Dr. Hulsey might decide that a coronal incision (over the top of the head, but usually within the hairline) is the best approach for your treatment goals. She will then gently pull back the forehead skin in order to remove excess skin and adjust and tighten the muscles and remaining skin.
Brow Lift Recovery
Once your procedure is complete, you will have bandages and/or a compressive head wrap placed over your forehead and eyebrows to mitigate swelling and help your features adhere to their new contours. These should be removed at your first follow-up appointment. Patients typically return to work 7-10 days after their initial recovery period.
You should notice the full results of your treatment about three months or less after your operation. Most patients enjoy the effects of their brow lift for a decade or longer with proper skincare.
What is the Cost of a Brow Lift?
The cost of your forehead lift surgery will depend on the surgical techniques used and the severity and location of your symptoms, among other factors. We also offer financing through CareCredit and Alphaeon® to help qualifying patients manage the price of care.
